A quick note about supplies...
I realize that we have been away from our notecards for awhile, but this next session we will be learning about colors and I will be expecting students to make flashcards of these vocab words. Please check with your student and make sure that they still have access to notecards and their binder ring. If they need a new binder ring I have a few extras for $.35, tell them to bring change to class and I will make sure to get them one.
Conferences!
Just a reminder that I will be available for conferences on Thursday November, 8 from 5:30 to 8:00. As of now, the Encore team will be in the Cafeteria. If it changes, I'm sure there will be enough people around to guide you. I will be calling a few parents to set up conferences for students who I feel are struggling in Spanish. Even if you don't have any concerns, I would love to meet the parents of my students! Hope to see you there!
A quick note about grades...
If you have visited the Home Access Center to view your student's grades you have most likely noticed that Spanish has only one grade as of now. This is due to the fact that while I am grading your students based on an O (Outstanding) S (Satisfactory) U (Unsatisfactory) grading scale HAC does not allow me to input grades in this manner. Per the district I am required to publish one grade per quarter and then their final grade for the quarter. I have put in the Unit one vocabulary quiz as this grade for now. When you look at the assignment if you click on the description you will see how the percentage translates to O S or U. PLEASE BE AWARE although I am only putting one grade per quarter into HAC I am keeping very close track of your child's performance in class. I check homework daily as well as grade any quizzes or projects that we have. All grades are kept in my grade book on an O S U scale so that at the end of the quarter I will be able to average out these scores and come up with a final grade. If you have any questions about your child's grade please feel free to email me at [email protected] I will respond as quickly as possible. Thank you!
